Whatever you do, don’t concentrate to hard(nice) on the name of this PP V or the logo. Just don’t do it
Tonight the WWE will have a RAW brand ppv, which will be the their last PPV until Summerslam next month. That’s one of the biggest layoffs between PPVs so I’d expect/hope they will put on a great show. They very easily can screw it all up because they seemingly enjoy doing that but fingers crossed they choose to make it a good one.
Neville(c) vs. Akira Tozawa for the Crusierweight Championship
The crusierweight division which could have been fun if it just have been spliced in to regular episodes of RAW or Smackdown and not be its own separate entity has been anything but that except for Neville. The idea of the purple ropes is a major swing and a miss. Neville has been the only star of 205 Live because he’s the only with a not so contrived persona. He does everything so smoothly. The Brian Kendrick is also good, just not pushed like Neville. Tozawa is a very good talent and great worker just like the rest of the guys in 205 Live just at the moment he has nothing else. His sort of being with the Titus Brand is awful because Titus O’Neill is awful. This match will be a good match with Neville retaining.
Prediction: Neville retains
The Miz(c) vs. Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship
For the 2 billionth time, The Miz will be facing off against Dean Ambrose. I really hope no matter what happens here this feud is over with. They’re hurting each other constantly going against each other. Not a soul cares. Do something else, anything else. Make this belt mean something. Whatever. Miz will retain and start a program with Roman Reigns if Roman loses tonight and if he doesn’t it might be with Enzo. As for Ambrose, I think he will eventually be fed to Big Cass. The match will be fine with Ambrose nearly falling out of the ring under 2.5 times while Maryse will undoubtedly help the Miz to win.
Prediction: The Miz retains
Sheamus and Cesaro(c) vs. The Hardy Boyz in a Iron Man Match
This has been a very solid feud with everyone involved looking very good. Since the Hardy Boyz returned at Wrestlemania they’ve not just brought back the nostalgia that WWE wanted but have also delivered good in ring work. The team of Sheamus and Cesaro, which I thought would flop, has done very well. The matches on RAW and at PPVs between these teams have been well done and with the interesting stipulation of an Iron Man Tag Team Match, which I don’t believe has ever been done before, this match is a candidate for the match of the night. A big ? for this match is whether or not the outcome will lead to the Hardy Boyz transforming into the Broken Hardyz, because there is much speculation that the Hardyz court battle with Anthem is near finished. I’d love for that to happen but I don’t think it will happen yet. Maybe Summerslam.
Prediction: The Hardy Boyz win the Tag team Championships
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt
This feud could of been so much more. Two of your biggest fan favorites squaring off and instead I couldn’t care less about this match. This match has the feeling of just a filler match. A damn shame indeed. Basically, here it is; Wyatt-Seth, you cater to these people now. Rollins- Bray, you’re not a God. And there you have it. Bray Wyatt who could be one the most over if not the most over guy in WWE, who the fans absolutely love and WWE has him as a midcard guy trotting out the same “I’m a God” persona even though he loses every PPV. And Rollins, seems like he has no idea what he’s trying to be. Simple and most basic answer is to just be Seth Rollins. Be the arrogant, better than everyone else guy there because you pretty much are and stop swaying back and forth.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt
I was and am still not pleased with the breakup of Enzo and Cass. I feel like they had still had tread on the tires and left more out there. I get they want to shoot Big Cass to the moon because Vince can’t help himself and thinks no one will notice the rocket that gets strapped to him after he beats Enzo. For his sake, it better be a beatdown of Enzo. Enzo has had a few stellar promos and his reaction to Cass telling him it was him who attacked him will be something that will not be soon forgotten. Enzo might feud with the Miz after this or maybe he goes right to 205 Live and tries to spark that division. Big Cass will face the Big Show and beat him then probably beat up on Ambrose, then who knows. Wouldn’t be surprised if Cass somehow gets thrown in the WWE title picture because that’s just how things work.
Prediction: Big Cass
Alexa Bliss(c) vs. Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship
The women’s division in both RAW and Smackdown has a problem with everyone one of their matches having to do with the championship. There’s not any other story lines that don’t have to do with the title. I’m sure that’s due to the amount of women wrestlers but still. Bliss has been a very good champion. She’s such a cocky jerk, who’s also a smokeshow making her just about irresistible. Same could be said for Banks but she’s a face who works better as a heel. The thing with that theory is that just about everyone works better as a heel. Banks hasn’t had a bad face run and the crowd dig her regardless of where her allegiance lies. Banks is definitely the better worker but I don’t think she will win. I can see Nia Jax getting involved in some way to have Banks lose leading to a match at Summerslam. Or, Jax gets involved, helps Bliss wins then wants a match against her at Summerslam. Or, something else happens. That’s great analyst.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss retains
Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns in an Ambulance Match
Strowman has been one of WWE’s pleasant surprises. It shouldn’t be hard to book a guy who’s 375lbs and a power lifter but WWE tends to screw simple stuff like that up. Not this time. Strowman has been a real force and if he didn’t have the elbow injury he might be facing Brock tonight. He’s getting better and better. Roman, for all the grief he gets, most of it not his fault, just a guy doing what he’s told is a very solid in ring worker. I wish his promos weren’t scripted and he could just go out and be himself because I think he would do great. I like the idea of an ambulance match because it isn’t used very often. We already saw Strowman stick Reigns in an ambulance a few weeks ago and with all the rumors of WWE changing up their plans for next years Wrestlemania it’s hard to figure out who’s going to win here. But, I’ve been saying it for a while now and it’s nothing earth shattering or a super clever take but all roads lead to Roman Reigns defeating Lesnar at Wrestlemania and being champion. I’m going to keep saying that until that’s not the match scheduled for Mania. With that said
Prediction: Bruan Strowman
Brock Lesnar(c) vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship
This has been a fantastic build. With Joe choking out Paul Heyman after he told him he was going to do just that, to the pull apart they had with Joe landing a superkick on Lesnar’s face and then Joe almost choking out Lesnar with the coquina clutch, which apparently is a legal chokehold. Don’t focus on that detail. Focus on these 2 monsters and bonafide destroyers of men going at each other. WWE wasn’t expecting this kind of anticipation of this match. Don’t think they thought Somoa Joe would get as over as he has but he’s done something that others should take note of and that’s just be yourself. In real life, Joe is thought of as one of the real deal tough guys in the locker room who can legit fight, so just let him be that. Doesn’t have to say that much, just go out there and maul people. Lesnar is the same way but he even says less and everyone knows about his UFC background. Lesnar legit scares me. Even right now he’s in Texas and I’m in Scranton and I’m petrified that he might jump out of the floor and disintegrate me. What’s neat about this match is that it doesn’t matter who’s face and who’s heel. No matter what happens in this match, each Joe and Lesnar will look strong. No 2 minute match here. I really hope it goes at least 15 minutes. The psychology in the match is whether Joe can win with the coquina clutch. He’ll get it on him at some point but it won’t be enough. Lesnar wins and there might even have a rematch at Summerslam. This will be a physical match with a UFC type feel to it. I hope Strowman doesn’t interfere.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar retains
