I Guess I’m Fine With Taco Bell Having A Taco That Has A Fried Egg For A Shell

It’s not that I’m apathetic towards the idea of Taco Bell having a breakfast taco that has takes a fried egg and uses as the shell for the breakfast taco. It’s just that I’m getting numb to the idea of g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶f̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶q̶u̶i̶c̶k̶l̶y̶  fast food joints using crazy items as their buns or shells. It’s like a person going to be a doctor or nurse. They see their first car accident patient with all their guts all over the place and they go throw up in the closet. Then after a few times it’s as routine as breathing. I see this breakfast taco using an egg as the shell and I don’t bat an eye. I’ve been seeing it for years. In the world of out doing the competition fast food joints have been losing their minds with inventing new and life changing ways to keep their food in place. Here’s what we’ve seen

Burger King- Halloween Black Bun Whopper

Notice the black cheese. Can’t imagine why any sound minded person would ever want this but it takes different strokes to move the world

This is relatively new. I’m a major sriracha subscriber so I can’t see this being a bad thing

KFC- Double Down

I think this is what started it all when it comes to wild substitutes for buns and shells. I remember this coming out 7 years ago with 2 pieces of chicken as the buns and people didn’t know what to do about it. People wanted to be grossed out but they all knew they had to find out for themselves. I did and I remember I felt really bad afterwards. My body felt bad for what I just did to it but my brain, soul, and chi were deeply altered after consuming. I equate it to people who witness something terrible. I just didn’t want to talk about it. I’m comfortable now discussing it with people.

Taco Bell got into the action of thinking outside the bun when they came up with a solid idea of making their taco shells big Doritos. It was a really good idea that seemed like a   no-brainer. The kind of idea where I remember thinking to myself “why didn’t I think of that.” They started with the regular Dorito shell, then moved on to the Cool Ranch shell and then finally the Sweet Chili shell. Haven’t had the Sweet Chili shell but I’m sure it’s good.

This egg taco seems like it will kill you dead with only having one of them but thankfully we aren’t a people who really care about stuff like that. It also seems like a greasy mess of a thing to ever have to handle. Whatever, I’m sure it will do fine and people will have the greasiest of hands and it won’t bother them at all. Why would they care? It only cost $1.99.

I wonder where things go from here. Are we going to have a burger that’s held together by 2 smaller burgers? Am I one day going to have the chance to just have the stuff I want in a taco just dropped into my hands with no shell at all? Maybe. I do know that this trend of thinking out side the bun is far from over.

PS- I love a burger that has 2 grilled cheeses for buns. The Anthracite in Wilkes Barre makes a heart attack burger that has 2 grilled cheese burgers for buns and it’s fantastic
