Sporting NewsUPDATE: The Jackson Hole News reports a “highly intoxicated” and naked Ryen Russillo of ESPN wandered into the wrong Wyoming condo early Wednesday morning, refused to leave and was too incoherent to answer questions.
Via the Jackson Hole News: Officers were called around 3:30 a.m. to a condo in the 500 block of Snow King Loop for a report of a “highly intoxicated male who was refusing to leave.”Two people were asleep in the condo when they heard someone come in. They didn’t know the man and asked him to leave because he was drunk, according to reports. Police arrived a few minutes later.
“He couldn’t coherently answer any questions, Schultz said. Russillo didn’t know where he was and thought maybe he was staying in the condo, police said. The residents said they weren’t sure if their door was locked. He appears to have just walked in, Schultz said. He didn’t force entry. But the residents asked Russillo to leave and he wouldn’t, reports stated. He was too intoxicated to follow through with the request, Schultz said.
PREVIOUS: ESPN TV/radio personality Ryen Russillo has been arrested on a “criminal entry” charge in Jackson, Wyo., Sporting News has learned.Todd Smith, Jackson Chief of Police, confirmed to Sporting News that Russillo was arrested at approximately 3:45 a.m. MT on Wednesday on a criminal entry charge. He now has to post bond and get a court date. If Russillo doesn’t post bond, he’ll face a judge within 48 hours, Smith said. The charge of criminal entry is a misdemeanor under Wyoming la, according to Smith. It’s punishable by up to six months in prisonm, a $750 fine, or both.Russillo’s arrest could be more more innocent than it sounds. Persons charged with criminal entry may mistakenly believe they have authority to enter a property, said Smith, and do so without any criminal intent. An employee at the Teton County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed Wednesday that it was housing the 42-year-old Russillo for the Jackson Police Department.
So Ryen Russillo got arrested this morning for getting ripped up in Wyoming, entering a condo that wasn’t his and just staying there. In technical law terms, he’s being charged with criminal entry which is a misdemeanor. Now I’m not person who goes and breaks the law. Breaking the law and getting caught would really cramp my style of being able to watch wrestling and football. But getting absolutely wrecked on a vacation to the point where you’re not sure if you’re in your house or not is something most of us can relate too and if you sit there and act holier than thou like you never had to many and made a bad choice before, well then good for you. I side with the Ryen Russillo, the every man. I’m sure Ryen will release a statement eventually and say what an idiot he was because that’s all you can say when you drop the ball like this. There’s no excuse for doing something like this other than the night got away from you and even that won’t win the case. In these type of situations you apologize to everyone you screwed over, tell yourself you’ll never do something like this again and lay low for a couple of weeks. Pretty sure that’s the blue print for something like this.
Where does Russillo go from here? He didn’t get axed when Espn laid off over a 100 people, though Kannell getting the boot still hasn’t sit well with me. I really hope Espn doesn’t overreact about this and send him packing. It’s not like he forcibly entered the place and went nuts or even worse, got a DUI. Nothing malicious happened. Guy got way to tuned and had no idea what planet he was on. He’ll pay the $750 fine, maybe take a DATS class and that’s the end of it.
I need Russillo on Espn radio. He has the best gimmick going and that is being a normal person. Doesn’t have to yell and freak out on anyone or take a stance only to rile up a side of a debate. He goes out there and just acts like himself, which is a regular guy who loves sports and BSing with friends. Hopefully he learns from this, betters himself and gets back on the air soon and not on Fox Sports. Unless they give him a truckload of cash. Then go to Fox.
