Not every day that two of my guests on my dream dinner list are going back and forth in a real deal interview. And by real deal I mean an interview where Zach Galifianakis interviews Jerry Seinfeld in a classic Between Two Ferns type interview. If you’re aren’t familiar with Between Two Ferns, you need to do yourself a favor and take the rest of the afternoon off or just put it on at your desk and make it look like you’re working. Between Two Ferns are some of funniest pieces of comedy out there and going and it’s conducted by my comedic inspiration; Zach Galifianakis. Zach’s delivery is what separates him from just about all other comedians. You add one of the guys who are responsible for the single greatest TV show of all time, Seinfeld, and you have just a tremendous amount of funny in one room. Then you throw in Cardi B for a minute, a singer who I know nothing about other than that she’s all over the place from what I’m told, and you have a hilarious video.
I know most people only know Zach from the Hangover movies and a few others, but Zach’s humor from those movies stems from his style and brain that he delivers in his stand up. I don’t believe he does much at all from with stand up anymore, though I really really really wish he’d get back into, but if you search some of his clips on YouTube, you’ll be blown away at just how clever and brilliant he is. To his sharp as hell one liners to his characters that he acts out with such genuine stage presence, Zach to me is one of the funniest comedians that have ever lived. If you have Netflix, and lets face it you do, you need to look up Zach Galifianakis Live At The Purple Onion. It’s must watch and you’ll respect yourself in the morning. The special is from 2006 but it doesn’t matter. It will have you possibly dying of laughter. The things that Zach finds funny and jokes about on stage are such a refreshing change up compared to what you hear from the majority of other comics.
Seinfeld, well he’s Seinfeld. The show Seinfeld is my favorite and many others favorite show ever. I’m not going to get into the reasons why it is but it is and I don’t care what anyone has to say speaking that it isn’t. I’ve seen Jerry live performing stand up and it was a joy. Just how effortlessly he goes through jokes knowing how much time and work he does craft every word just perfectly. It’s a sight to hear. Like Zach, Jerry can make the most ordinary things funny. He doesn’t have to resort to politics, race or sex to be hilarious. That’s what I appreciate from both of these guys. They bypass low hanging fruit.
Here’s a clip of Zach’s special of him at the Purple Onion. Go and watch the whole thing. Do it
